Book Week Update
I read Balance is a Crock, Sleep is for the Weak, and it was a pretty entertaining read! And yes, I did manage to read an entire book in one week. Despite teething, an out-of-state trip to visit the in-laws, and a crazy work week. But be aware, if you're offended by some foul language, or occasional recommendations to do things like lie (a little), this might not be the book for you. But if you're intrigued, check it out!
The book is aimed at working moms (or moms-to-be) divided into three sections: when you find out you're pregnant, going back to work after maternity leave, and surviving motherhood in general. Some of the first two sections weren't that relevant to my life, as my pre-baby work situation wasn't a large, high-stress corporate environment. It was more of a "make up the rules as you go" kind of a place. I was likely the first pregnant employee in 20 years, if not the entire history of the company. But I digress. There is a lot of useful information in this section, as well as the part about going back to work. I was fortunate to have a work-mostly-at-home arrangement. The tips here were pretty right-on, though, from what I've observed.
The last part was full of helpful mommyhood-survival information. Too much to describe here, but very helpful. Read all the way to the end, and you'll even find some really good recipes!
Sounds like the place I used to work at, mostly men or college aged girls interning.
